Heritage International School
At Heritage International School, we offer four English as a Second Language (ESL) programs to accommodate individuals from many different English backgrounds. Each of the programs aims to develop four essential skills, such as listening, reading, speaking, and writing.
Bridge ESL is a three to six month (depending on students’ level) intensive course available for individuals who have limited English skills. This may include individuals who have arrived in Canada and are yet to be familiar with English and for those who wish to develop more knowledge and confidence in their English capabilities for academic, professional, and/or personal development reasons. This course acts as a “Pre-class” for those who desire teaching prior to entering classes.
After-school ESL Program is a part of our after-school program that is intended for students who are regular students in Canada who need support in their studies, whether it be advancing in their studies, or assistance in their homework, presentation skills, or in their ability to perform the four essential English skills.
International Students and adults who are visiting Canada may enroll in a six-month General ESL program. This is open for students who wish to pursue short-term English studies in Canada. This program will provide students with an opportunity to improve English proficiency, learn about the academic culture of a Canadian classroom, and study in a diverse classroom with peers from all over the world. Students have the option to focus their studies in one the four core areas (listening, reading, speaking, and writing).
IELTS is a test developed by the world’s leading experts in language assessment on four key English language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking. It is designed to assess the language ability of people who aim to study, work, immigrate and integrate into an English-speaking environment.
If you are new students at HIS, you will need to take the placement test before you begin classes, the result of test will help you determine the IELTS courses you will take.
